Friends,
Allow me to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Patricia Irby, and I am the Secretary/Treasurer for Musical Ambassadors of Peace. I imagine that many of you feel the same way i do when you read the news, horrified at the treatment of immigrants and people of color, saddened by what is happening at the US-Mexico border, feeling somewhat powerless to do anything meaningful about it.
Well, let me tell you about our Musical Ambassador, Ari Honarvar, who is doing beautiful things at the border! She has taken several trips to Tijuana, offering both supplies and musical healing to those asylum seekers who are waiting there. She has some powerful stories to tell and we would love for you to hear them. So we're having a webinar, an exciting opportunity for you to hear from her directly and find out how you can
help! And we, the board members for Musical Ambassadors of Peace, will be there as well!

In Ari's Words -
"Yesterday, a documentary film crew filmed our session. At the end of our interview they were crying. They said,
Having followed asylum seekers for months, we come across so many terrible stories that we succumb to despair. Seeing these kids, the way they light up and are so full of joy, dancing and having a grand time gives us a boost. It gives us hope.
So while the Musical Ambassadors of Peace (MAP) founder, Cameron, was having a 4-hour neck surgery, his unique vision for helping refugees was with us as we danced, sang, and played with Central American kids in Tijuana.
We often stay afterwards and offer support to those who are particularly traumatized. The stories are similar. Words ring in the air: violence, sexual assault, killed, not safe, no choice.
Yesterday, I met with a woman who fled her home with her disabled toddler boy and her 4-year-old daughter. We did several stabilizing exercises until she was calm. I will check on her every day. No one in that situation should feel they're alone♥️"
Special thanks to our host/moderator, Jeff Leisawitz, who is a life coach for creative types.
