Supporting Healing Drum Workshops in Iraq for Yazidi Women

More than 5,000 Yazidi women were captured and enslaved by ISIS forces when the militant Islamist terrorists attacked the city of Sinjar, northern Iraq in August 2014.
The women, some just teenagers, were forced to watch ISIS militants murder their families before they were sold into sexual slavery.

In her recent visit to Iraq, Musical Ambassador Dilkhwaz Ahmed created ongoing drum circles in Yazidi refugee camps

to help these women heal. These women are finding empowerment through drumming, singing and cultural sharing.

"We have identified a Yazidi woman drummer who knows the traditional songs.
We will be supporting this woman to lead the others in
weekly drumming-singing circles."

Musical Ambassadors of Peace is proud to support these workshops to continue Dilkhwaz's work.
