“We started this program so that the girls could have fun. Since
the girls are poor, they start worrying about how their lives will be, how they will live. They are stressed about their futures. We faced a war both last year and this year. Everything about war is sad. We will never be able to remove the war and the feelings that come from it. This is very hard for everyone, but it is extremely difficult for teenagers, for kids.
We need to have fun with the girls. We need to
remind the kids that life is beautiful. Yes, we have some things that are hard and stressful, but this is life in Gaza. We can focus on the things that bring us joy. We want to remind them that life is not about wars, that is not the real life. Sometimes there are hard times, but that is not all of life.
That is our goal for people in Gaza, to remind them that there is a life to live and that there are beautiful
things in life.” - Mahmoud AbuShawish, Gaza Program Coordinator
